What is global governance?

Global Governance are cooperative actions between actors in the international level to address issues which affect multiple states such as global security, peace, social, economic, and environment

Global Governance is a set of rules, ideas, and norms and state and non-state actors coming together to address problems in the world such as poverty, climate change, economic issues, epidemic, that all affect them all.

Why is Global Governance necessary?

  • Global Governance is necessary because in tackling an international issue, one state cannot do so alone. Therefore, cooperation is needed
  • The spread of globalization makes issues that are too big for individual states to deal with alone.

Governance VS Government

Governance(less effective?)

  • Governance can happen without a government.
  • They are frameworks, international rules, mechanisms
  • Governance happen at the global level where a force is not available to enforce its rulings
  • More democratic decision makings, make decisions together.

Governance can exist in many levels

  • governance of a class
  • governance of a family

Government (more effective?)

  • Governance with government or a body that is a sovereign state
  • It has the power to enforce its ruling
  • Governments can create and use its force to enforce its rules and laws
  • More Top to down level of authority
