Focus Groups: group interviewing (5-10 subjects)

  • always more than 1 group, examine peoples perception with different contexts (10-15 groups)
  • Led by moderator
    • Interpretive = less interventionist
    • Empiricist = more interventionist

Problem of

  • All big organizations and governments have official statements and archives of information on the internet

Qualitative Data Analysis

  • can use many interpretations and means of analysis
  • More subjective than quantitative

Forms

  • Case studies: process-tracing

Most commonly qualitative studies use discourse analysis. and content analysis is described to be for empiricist and quantitative. But both are not strictly any one and can be used for either purpose
