Hypothesis are statements that are hunches or speculations to bring direction, specificity, and focus to a research study

• A Research study doesn’t necessary need a hypothesis.
• Most times, it specifies a relationship between multiple variables
• Data collection is conducted to prove hypothesis right, partially right, or wrong

The Functions of a Hypothesis §

Hypothesis isn’t required, but it gives the study a direction to go:

• To specify/focus what you want to study
• For you to only relevant data for your study
• Enhances objectivity in a study?
• Testing hypothesis will contribute to theory formulation
