Ethnocentrism
- to apply one’s own culture or ethnicity as a frame of reference to judge other cultures, practices, behaviors, beliefs, and people, instead of using the standards of the particular culture involved. 1
- To denote one’s own culture as superior than another’s in a negative light
💡 Ex: It shows up in the Colonization era where European powers white washed traditional cultures in Asia and other colonies
- It could result in Fascism, hyper-nationalism, and racism
