A research essay that have the one goal of answering the research-question proposed.

How to make broad topic into research-questions?
Try to explain with long term and structural perspective
- Not individuals
- But look at events and patterns
specify the event/person/thing in question by naming them in the question with specific details
- Pick 2 cases or how one impact another: when the topic have many variables
What type of research question to make?
If you topic is more of explaining rather than testing hypothesis
Use Wh- questions rather than Yes-No questions.
- What: identify, specify, and explain
- Why: reason, root cause
- How: in what way
What type of question for IR?
IR is more descriptive and explanative than hypothesis testing: use more Wh- research.
Yes-No question is still possible though
